5 TIPS TO EXPLORE VIETNAM MORE SUSTAINABLY FROM CHÔM CHÔM TRAVEL

Updated: Oct 13, 2023

Our Chôm Chôm team knows that you love Vietnam as much as we do and are always looking for better ways to travel sustainably in this beautiful country.

Here are some suggestions we would love to share with you to help you explore Vietnam more sustainably.

1. Bring sustainable water bottles and toiletries

Most hotels in Vietnam are well equipped with plastic water bottles, single-use toothbrushes, tubes of toothpaste, combs, and other toiletry items. However, Chôm Chôm travel recommends bringing your reusable items along.

Remember to pack reusable masks, a refillable water bottle, or even your toiletries on every trip. These items can impact reducing any unnecessary waste to the environment.

Your things are always higher quality, more comfortable, and more environmentally friendly than the single-use items in hotels.

Don't buy travel-sized toiletries every time you go on vacation; instead, invest in reusable containers that you can reuse and refill with products you already have at home. Name the containers to help you remember what's inside each one.

2. Contribute to local and environmentally friendly products and services first.

Locals are people who can share their authentic culture and traditions of the region. Choosing local guides, restaurants, and homestays is the best way to explore an area thoroughly. It allows travellers to learn about a new, distinctive culture that can enhance their travel experience.

By intentionally choosing eco-friendly and locally run products and services, you will directly contribute to the growth of the local economy and the residents' standard of living. It is beautiful to know that the places we pass through are prospering and that the environment is still being preserved.

As Chôm Chôm Travel supports sustainable tourism and strives to become more sustainable every day, we always have local and environmentally friendly partners at every destination where we organise trips. When you and your family spend your vacation in Vietnam with us, you can rest assured that this requirement will be met.

3. Embrace travelling more slowly and thoroughly in one location

Do you believe that slow travel can enhance your travel experience? The quality is more meaningful than the quantity.

You could try to spend more time exploring one location rather than trying to travel to numerous places. Give yourself extra time to sense and feel your surroundings. When you kayak or swim on the crystal-clear beach, take your time to feel the sea breeze on your face, feel the sunshine warming your body, and listen to the sound of the waves.

Slow down when trekking through the forest to learn more about the region's flora and fauna; this will help you and your kids turn your vacation into an educational experience. Your kids will have the opportunity to learn more about the world.

Spending time interacting with the residents and listening to the stories of their cultures and traditions can help deepen your understanding of the region.

By moving less, you can reduce your carbon footprint and help to protect the environment. For Chôm Chôm Travel, this is an excellent choice.

4. Visit the traditional artisan villages and join their handicraft workshops

Visiting traditional craft villages and participating in handicraft workshops is a fantastic experience to enjoy with your children.

This is an excellent opportunity for you to interact with the locals, learn more about their way of life, and help your children develop their creativity.

Your visit will help these local artisans to have employment, income and encouragement to continue their work, thereby contributing to the preservation of Vietnam's beautiful traditions and crafts, which are gradually disappearing.

Chôm Chôm Travel offers a variety of interesting and hands-on workshops for your family to participate in, such as drawing batik, making Dó paper, crafting paper fans, and creating recycled paper masks and toys from thrown-away bamboo pieces. You can take your masterpieces home as a souvenir to reminisce about your wonderful family vacation.

5. Take environmentally friendly activities like cycling, hiking, camping, and kayaking

The ecosystems and wildlife present us with countless learning and exploration. Cycling, hiking, camping and kayaking are all low-carbon activities that allow you to re-energise and reconnect with nature.

Engaging in outdoor activities gives your children a great chance to immerse themself fully in nature, which can strengthen their love for nature and increase their awareness of environmental conservation.

Chôm Chôm Travel can organise these activities for you and your family to have unforgettable vacations. We constantly work to expand the opportunities for our community to experience nature and promote environmental preservation.

Sustainable tourism is essential because the number of people travelling in Vietnam is increasing. Chôm Chôm Travel believes that even small actions taken now can significantly impact the future.

Let us explore and treasure Vietnam together!
