HOW DOES CHÔM CHÔM TRAVEL ENCOURAGE THE GROWTH OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM IN VIETNAM?

Updated: Oct 13, 2023

Travelling is now more accessible and affordable for almost everyone. Tourism provides opportunities to discover beautiful landscapes, wildlife, history, and unique cultures and benefits the economy. However, if not managed correctly, it can negatively affect local communities and ecosystems, causing long-term challenges for neighbourhoods.

How can we keep travelling while maximising the practical effects and limiting the harmful ones in the places we go?

Let us learn about sustainable tourism and why Chôm Chôm Travel chooses to be a sustainable travel company!

WHAT IS SUSTAINABLE TOURISM?

Sustainable tourism considers the adverse effects on the environment, society, and economy and adjusts to relieve those consequences. Sustainable tourism considers the demands of travellers, host communities, and the environment. Genuine and long-term sustainable tourism will make destinations better places to live and visit.

WHY DOES SUSTAINABLE TOURISM MATTER IN VIETNAM?

Sustainable tourism is essential because the number of people traveling in Vietnam is increasing. Over-tourism is a problem in some places where congestion and overcrowding from an excess of tourists going to one destination create a demand for more accommodation and transportation. Leading to various negative influences, including abusing natural resources, destroying wildlife, and ruining local culture.

Pursuing sustainable tourism can mitigate the negative impact and offer advantages. Three primary benefits are supporting the community, boosting the region's economy, and safeguarding the environment. That ensures the residents can prosper and live in their homeland and that industry can continue to survive and expand in the years to come.

Some tourist attractions in Vietnam have been concentrating on building a sustainable tourism industry.

The city of Hoi An in central Vietnam is restricting the use of plastic bags and other single-use items to promote sustainable travel growth. The ancient town has pedestrian-friendly streets and prohibits motorbikes and cars from entering the town center from 9 am to 11 am and from 3 pm to 9:30 pm.

HOW CAN CHÔM CHÔM TRAVEL ENCOURAGE THE GROWTH OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM IN VIETNAM?

Sustainable tourism aims to increase tourism's benefits while decreasing the negative consequences for destinations. To be as sustainable as possible, Chôm Chôm Travel does our best to minimize the harmful effects and increase more positive impacts on both communities and the environment by:

  • Encouraging more outdoor activities like biking, hiking, and walking to help our travellers to deepen their connection with nature and immerse themselves in it. They might realise how nature has given to them and that we are all a part of nature. They may then feel appreciative and desire to preserve it actively. Additionally, they are all carbon-free experiences.

  • Introducing local people's authentic and unique culture and traditions. Our travelers are enthusiastic about discovering new regions and learning about local customs.

  • Advising our travelers to experience the local traditional handicraft workshops. It gives residents extra income and tourists an opportunity to discover something new. In Moc Chau, you can experience a paper–making workshop with the Hmong community. Guests will learn about the traditional history and can create paper. It helps the locals appreciate the value of their cultural traditions and makes them more mindful of preserving them.

  • Establishing long-term partnerships with local guides, restaurants, and homestays all over Vietnam. Throughout our two years of development, we have been extremely fortunate to have great partners who help us create the remarkable and unforgettable service that exists today. Our main goal is to continue establishing a solid relationship with them and grow together.

  • Trying to minimise the environmental impact by using environmentally friendly ways of transport.

  • Ensuring that the wildlife and natural heritage treated with respect during the trip, we encourage our visitors to explore the outdoors and refrain from doing anything that is environmentally harmful.
